Hey-hey! White Rabbit here! Lammy scanned this article and said it contains unmarked spoilers for all Trails games. Turn back now if you don't want to get lasered! Okay, byee!

Josette Capua (ジョゼット・カプア) is a member of the Capua family.

Profile[]

Appearance[]

Josette is a young woman with green eyes and vivid blue hair, a trait she shares with her brothers, Don and Kyle. She wears a green shirt with several metal clasps and a short taupe shirt. She also wears a sleeveless green jacket with a fur lined collar and orange shoulder guards. Josette has green boots with matching orange guards and fingerless gloves as well. When the Capua family take up their delivery service, she incorporates a green visor with 'Capua' written in red letters.

In her later, older appearance, Josette has let her hair grow out and it appears straighter. She now wears a different style green jacket with longer sleeves over a white skirt, and adopts tights beneath cowboy style boots with metal chains. She now has full black gloves.

Josette uses an orbal pistol in combat. It has a red wooden stock and can be modified to fire flares, used to signal the Bobcat.

Personality[]

Josette Capua is a rough and tough tomboy. She has a brash and very dishonest personality especially regarding her own feelings. Despite this, she cares deeply about her siblings and acts as the manager of the family. Josette has a lot in common with Estelle Bright; both appear to be boyish, optimistic and energetic girls. She also has an apparent crush on Joshua, and because of this the two girls are always at odds with each other, with Josette usually referring to Estelle as "the brainless one". However, she also has a much more feminine side than Estelle. Being a great cook and housekeeper, she's able to keep the otherwise all male air-brigade relatively clean.

Background[]

Josette is the only daughter in the family with two elder brothers, Don Capua and Kyle Capua. They were originally a noble family in the Erebonian Empire, before they were tricked by deceiving merchants and lost their wealth and status, all that was left were their servants and their modified airship, the Bobcat. So they became highway bandits operating off the airship, mostly working out of the Liberl Kingdom.

Trails in the Sky FC[]

Josette first appears at Hotel Rolent as a guest, disguised as a student of Jenis Royal Academy. She goes under the alias Josette Haar, pretending to be currently performing independent studies on Liberlian culture. After seeing the Esmelas Crystal placed into the mayor's safe, she later breaks into his residence and steals it. In Mistwald Forest, Estelle, Joshua and Scherazard Harvey catch up to her and her crew, resulting in Josette's defeat and her losing the crystal. However, before she could be arrested, Kyle Capua arrives in the Bobcat, allowing her to escape.

Josette is next seen at Valleria Lakeshore at night. During Josette's heist in Rolent, her brother, the leader of the Capua Sky Bandits, Don Capua hijacks the airliner Linde, which concerns her since she finds the action too extreme and risky for him to take. At the Lakeshore, together with Kyle she meets with Lorence Belgar to discuss the ransom for the Linde's passengers. After the meeting, they fly back to their hideout in Nebel Valley, with unknowingly to them, bracers and associates hiding on board. Josette is shocked by Don's decision to execute the passengers once the ransom is paid, However, before the argument could progress any further, the party bursts into the room and defeats the Capuas. Using one of Kyle's smoke bombs, the Capuas are able to escape the bracers but upon arriving at their airship's dock, found themselves facing the Royal Army of Liberl and subsequently, got arrested for piracy.

Following their arrest, the Capuas were imprisoned in Leiston Fortress. While breaking out Albert Russell, the party encounters them in their jail cell and briefly talks to them, before leaving them as they were.

To serve as an "apology" for their actions, Dunan von Auslese made them compete in the Martial Arts Tournament. To do so, he changed the tournament structure from solo battles to team battles in order for the entire Capua family to be able to fight at once. In the first round, they manage to defeat a team from the Royal Army, however in the second round, despite managing to defeat 3 Intelligence Division members, they get single-handedly defeated with ease by Lorence Belgar. While parting, Josette gives some encouraging words to Estelle and Joshua. Josette and the Capuas were not seen for the rest of the game however it is later revealed that after the end of this game, Joshua broke them out of prison in order to have helpers for accomplishing his goals.

Trails in the Sky SC[]

Josette is first seen checking out the ruins of a destroyed village alongside her family. She then converges with her family and proceed up a hill to where Joshua Bright is, having joined him for an operation. Josette is concerned because Joshua is acting differently compared to their previous encounters. After finishing in Hamel, the group head back to Liberl.

Josette and the group take down several groups of automated soldiers deployed by Ouroboros. Josette is later seen with Joshua and her family stealing the Bobcat from the new Nebel Base Training Facility located in the ancient ruins overlooking Nebel Valley. She assists Joshua in a fight against Mueller Vander while her brothers prepare the ship for take-off. The airship flies away with soldiers firing at it, but no before a picture of them is taken by Dorothy Hyatt.

Some time after the dragon incident, late at night, the Bobcat is flying over the clouds. Josette comes out looking for Joshua and the two have a talk. Josette cannot understand Joshua's attachment to the country and gets upset at his plans. The Bobcat starts chasing a small scout ship of Ouroboros and eventually catches up to it after dodging the airships evasive maneuvers. Joshua thanks the Capuas and leaves them. They decide to tail the Glorious in secret, in order to keep an eye on Joshua.

Josette and the others arrive to save Joshua from pursuing Ouroboros airships after sabotaging the Glorious. After losing them, Josette calls out to Joshua at the Gull Seaside Way, interrupting a kiss between him and Estelle. She is surprised to see Estelle with him, and nearly instigates a fight with her after commenting that she should've been left behind on the Glorious. After Joshua kindly turns down the Capua's request to join the Sky Bandits, Josette tells him that he's always welcome on the Bobcat if he gets tired of Estelle and the Capuas depart.

A couple of days later after the Liber Ark appears, the Bobcat is flying in the air spying at the ark from a distance. They decide to take a look and possibly loot it, but lose control due to the orbal shutdown effect and crash land on the Ark. As the crew set out to gain their new bearings and repair the ship, a Vogel unit arrived to investigate. Josette immediately shot the archaism, which alerted the jaegers to their presence. Don, Kyle and the others acted as a diversion to allow Josette to escape, getting captured in the process and taken prisoner onboard the Glorious.

Josette would spend the next three days alone and scared. On the third day, the Arseille crashed on the Ark. Estelle and the others set out to explore the Ark, just as they heard a voice yelling in the distance and decided to investigate, finding more archaisms surrounding Josette. The group destroyed the archaisms, where Josette was relieved to see Joshua once more and pleaded with the group to save her brothers and crew, joining them.

After running into Gilbert Stein on the Glorious, Josette was initially unsure of who he was until Estelle reminded her about Morris Dalmore. Josette then realized Gilbert was the crying man that was in a cell next to them and continually made fun of him. Gilbert was enraged by the lack of respect and deployed a lion-type Riot Arms archaism to attack, but it was destroyed and he was defeated.

When the Liber Ark collapsed, Josette was terrified at the thought of Joshua dying and ordered Kyle to turn around and find them. Kyle refused however, as they would not be able to reach them, which greatly saddened her, as she believed him to be dead. Fortunately, Joshua and Estelle were saved by their father and the ancient dragon Ragnard, which relieved her when she saw him and waved at the pair.

Trails in the Sky the 3rd[]

Following the events of the Orbal Shutdown Phenomenon, Josette and her siblings were pardoned by Queen Alicia, paying off their debt with her own funds. The three decided to start the Capua Delivery Service, and they employed their former crewmen as workers. Alongside her normal delivery duties, she also served as the company's accountant.

After Don returned from Grancel to deliver a customer's package, he gave Josette what he thought was a letter from Joshua. Josette eagerly opened the envelope, only to find that it was actually the receipt, which caused her to become angry at Don for being so careless. They soon found an unknown ship on their radar and discovered that it was from Ouroboros. Although the ship was ordered not to engage in direct combat, its commanding officer, Gilbert, decided to attack regardless for personal gain. Josette manned the machine gun and destroyed numerous projectiles, before Gilbert decided to intervene himself; Josette was able to shoot him down too.

Following the incident, crewman Rosco soon arrived with an envelope that he found while securing the cargo, which was Joshua's letter. Josette eagerly opened the envelope once more, where she told her brothers that Joshua was about to leave the Empire on his search for someone, and that she should take it easy once in a while and take care of herself. She also found some of Estelle's writings, who jokingly teased her not to act too tough or she would hurt herself, which she did not appreciate.

She was one of the sixteen individuals summoned into Phantasma, her stone found on the Bobcat in Grancel. Upon being freed, Josette noticed Muller and Kevin, disappointed that Joshua was not with them. She asked where her brothers had went and tried to go off to search for them, but was convinced not to and remained with the group. The group soon found Joshua's stone and freed him, causing Josette to become excited. Josette tried to convince him that he wasn't in a dream because she was there, but understood his logic after he explained to her that he had known her, and as such, initially believed himself to be in an illusion until he noticed Ries Argent, who he did not know.

If brought along to the Nohval Monument, Josette will encounter grimoires of her brothers. She initially refuses to fight them, but they persuade her to as they need her back at the real world.

Trails of Cold Steel III[]

Josette is first met in Chapter 2, delivering a package to Mayor Haddock and his wife as part of her work. It is revealed that Leeves used to be part of the Capua Barony, with the location of Thors Branch Campus’ dormitory having once been their mansion. Josette has a second ship now, the Bobcat II.

During Chapter 4 at the summer festival she can be seen talking to Ferris and Alisa at Karel Imperial Villa. It is revealed there she knew Ferris since she was small and also met Alisa at one point during a business negotiation in Roer, before the Capua Barony was lost. After the assassination attempt on Eugent Reise Arnor III, she was stuck in Heimdallr due to airships not being allowed to take off and eventually, during the events of the final chapter, helps Jingo and Ashleigh fighting off cryptids and magic knights in Vesta street.

Trails of Cold Steel IV[]

Following the discovery of the fifth Occult Point, the remaining two were in Heimdallr and Crossbell City respectively; as the teleportation stones could not be used, Alisa recalled someone who could help. She contacted Josette, who arrived at Eryn the following day. Josette was able to bring the group near Tangram Gate.

She later helped Class VII escape from the Black Workshop, later meeting up with her friends on the Pantagruel. The Bobcat II takes part in the battle against the Glorious. Following this, The Bobcat is mostly used to ferry the Liberlian party around Erebonia, and is used as one of the transport vessels involved in the assault on the five Salt pales, where it transports the Liberl squad.

After cancellation of the Great Twilight, Josette was one of the guests at the wedding reception of Olivert Reise Arnor and Scherazard Harvey's wedding.

Trails into Reverie[]

Josette makes a delivery to Jingo at her new branch of Neinvalli in Heimdallr. Jingo muses that she needs 'feet' to keep up with business trends and offers to buy the Bobcat II which Josette declines, stating that the Capuas are trying to expand their own fleet. She then leaves for her next delivery.

Josette, the Bobcat II, the original Bobcat, and one more airship of the same model piloted by Jingo join the battle against Elysium at the Retributive Tower. She transports various bracers from Erebonia, Liberl, and Crossbell to the battle.
