Freddy (フレディ) is a student in Class VIII of the Thors Branch Campus in Trails of Cold Steel III.
Profile[]
Appearance[]
Freddy is a young man with messy silver hair, wide open piecing eyes and a generally unkempt appearance of the standard male Branch campus uniform, Freddy wears only the blue blazer, worn open. He also wears a gray shirt, camouflage trousers, bandages around his shins, brown boots and various pieces of fishing tackle around his neck.
Freddy carries a combat knife belted around his thigh and uses a three-pronged trident in battle, and for fishing.
Personality[]
He has a very eccentric personality and considers his typical cooking to be "normal", which often involves using bugs and monster parts. He considers "special" cooking to be typical dishes that most people would generally eat. Despite the use of such ingredients in his cooking, Freddy is skilled in cooking and wilderness survival. As such, he respects the sacrifice made by animals to provide for people and tries use as much as possible from them. Freddy is ever-optimistic and somewhat oblivious to how other perceive his unique culinary tastes. Nothing seems to dampen his spirits. Maya describes him as really 'out there' but Rean learns that he really does care about what is important and strives to learn more and protect what is dear to him.
Background[]
Freddy is born in S.1189 and lives in Sutherland Province. His home is a small fishing village along the seaside located near a river and mountains and he claims that they have lived off of nature for as long as he can remember. During the October War, his home town suffered a lot of damage and he resolved to get stronger and learn more to protect it.
Trails of Cold Steel III[]
At the age of 17, he enrolled at the Thors Branch Campus, joining Class VIII: Combat Tactics under instructor Randy Orlando. He joined the branch academy to learn more and get stronger so he can protect thsoe he cares about. Freddy is also part of the Cooking club and a member of the Fisherman's Guild. He provides Rean Schwarzer with prizes for fishing achievements and will both sell fishing materials and exchange fish for prizes.
Freddy's unique tastes have not gone noticed by the other students who do their best to ignore his attempts for them to try his cooking, which he seems almost oblivious to. His cooking is genuinely nutritious however, and after Rean helps gather special ingredients for him, he can prepare unique meals. Even his ultimate dish can prove a bit much for him to stomach however.
Freddy participates in the Fisherman's Guild and Imperial Fishing Club exhibition match.
Trails of Cold Steel IV[]
Freddy is found in the Marshlands of Ursula Byroad after the Great Twilight. He enthusiastically greets Class VII and shows them the hidden Kestrel unit and shows them his new blue cheese recipe. Freddy has been training, stating that creatures that die painfully taste terrible no matter how well they were prepared. Thus, he had begun to practice a technique to instantly kill prey, though is still working out the finer details.
Freddy and Orvid meet each other and immediately get on good terms over their common interests. He expresses a desire to visit Liberl to see what is there for himself.
Trails into Reverie[]
At the Branch Campus Academy Freddy has food prepared for the upper-class men reunion. His wild grass accent is complimented and he reassures everyone of the ingredient composition so as not to put them off their food. Freddy and the cooking club reconvene where Tita tries his fatigue restoring dish made of insects and calls it bitter. Freddy reassures her about her Orbal Gear project and gives some advice, suggesting she speak to professor Schmidt or go hunting, which is what he does when stuck for ideas on a new recipe. At the academy festival, Freddy prepares his Freddy Special: Scholastic festival Surprise which surprisingly impresses some of the guests.
Prior to Imperial wedding between Prince Olivert and Scherazard Harvey, Freddy is asked to help create some dishes to help decide what type of food should be served. Sandy reminds him that he needed to stick to regular dishes as they would be serving all kinds of people. He is initially dismayed when he asks his fellow students about their take on food, though shakes it off under the pretense that their tastes aren't as refined as his. Feeling that he needed something special, he consults with Margarita Dresden, who refers him to rare game in the Rock Patio. Finding the rare prey, the Parsni Panda, he uses his Beast Blood Removal (百獣抜血衝) technique to kill the monster and uses it to create an Eastern dish called "shabu shabu". The judging panel, consisting of Wilhelm Ballad, Reiner and Roselia Millstein, are all impressed by the dish, with the former even asking for seconds. After giving some extra servings to the others, Freddy revealed to Sandy that he had mixed in powdered caterpillar fungus into the sauce, intending to introduce them to his unique cuisine one basic dish at a time.
Freddy is seen launching a Soldat from the Derfflinger at the final battle against the Retributive Tower.
