The Holy Beasts (
Background[]
In Trails in the Sky SC, Kevin Graham points out that in one of the scriptures of the Septian Church was written: "And the Goddess, having bequeathed Her treasures, sent forth the Holy Beasts to observe the path the children of Men would take." Each Holy Beast was assigned to watch over one of the Sept-Terrions, with a pact made to not interfere with the children of man when it came to matters concerning them. Should the treasure leave existence or a suitable answer be offered up, as is the case with the Aureole, the pact is considered fulfilled and the Beast free to act as it wills.
As a creation of the Goddess, they cannot be harmed by other creations of the Goddess, including Sept-Terrions. However, they can be influenced by them or fall under their control. It takes a weapon created by a soul to kill one, and even then remnants may remain. It is possible for Holy Beasts to pass on their forms and strength by creating heirs.
Holy Beasts possess other abilities such as the ability to change size and form. Holy Beasts can also manifest phenomena such as the Earthern Prison, which can force incorporeal forms to manifest on the physical plane, or large chunks of septium such as goldia, although only specific Beasts have shown the ability to do such things: Argres and Ragnard specifically. Zeit is also shown to be able to communicate with wild creatures and produce forcefields, whereas Roselia can combine with a human form (forsaking her immortality) and produce familiars as heirs to her power.
At present, four Holy Beasts are known.
